Golf Instruction The Tee Marker Dilemma
Have you ever played a course when you began thinking that the grounds superintentdant was out to get you?Anywhere you stood you were at an angle to the fairway, or the ball was either above or below your feet at address?
There are no rules about where the tee markers have to be set or their alignment in relationship to the hole. Here are a couple of suggestions to help you hit the fairway.
The teeing area is not just between the markers. It extends two club lengths in depth from each marker forming a large rectangle. You are allowed to tee your ball anywhere within that space. But be careful, because a ball is considered out side the teeing area when al of it lies outside. This would cause a two stroke penalty in stroke play and you would then have to re-tee in the teeing area. FOr match play there is no penalty, however, your oppenent can make you replay the shot.
First, find the flatest area you can within the rectangle of the teeing area. You can also stand outside the teeing area for a better angle to hit to the fairway, but the ball has to be inside the teeing area.
