Hole By Hole

There are times when hitting your driver might not be a best approach for getting a low score on a hole. Hitting away just doesn't always make sense.

There will be times when a fairway wood or even an iron might put you in a better spot for your appraoch to the green. If you have a favorite club, that special club you just feel really comfortable swinging. You know what is you comfortable distance range with your favorite club and you feel good about hitting a shot from that distance.

Wouldn't it make sense to use a club off the tee or from the fairway that will leave you with a shot from the distance you hit your favorite club? All you need to do is have a plan on how to play the hole. And then stick to your plan.

Many courses have web sites where you can get a description of each hole and some even with diagrams. If you take a few moments to print these out and review the best shot making for each hole you might surpirse your self with how many holes don't require a driver off the tee.

For example I play at a course and they have done a very nice job on their web site of highlighting the holes. Check out the courses for St. Andrews in West Chicago.
