Hot Golf Tips for Playing on Cold Days.
Low temperatures and brisk winds won't keep a hardy soul off the golf course. And why should they? If you take the following steps you will certainly enjoy yourself - and play to your potential — even in the chilliest of weather.Do the Layered Look
Keeping warm is your priority, but also allowing for an unrestricted swing is key to playing well.
By wearing thin layers instead of bulky clothing you will still be able to swing freely.
The combination of wearing long underwear, a lightweight turtleneck, a thin sweater, and an outer jacket will keep you warm while not sacrificing your mobility.
Heads and Hands
The two most important body parts to keep warm are your hands and head. If you wear mittens or gloves (remember to cover your non-golf-gloved hand, as well) between shots will keep your fingers from getting cold and stiffening. We all know that body heat escapes through your head — wear a wool hat. It'll help keep your whole body warm and allow you to play better.Make Time to Warm Up
In cold weather, everyone is more prone to injury.Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to warm up before your round.
When you arrive at the course, get your blood pumping by walking briskly and making fast circles with your arms extended from your sides.
Also remember to do some light stretching before starting your warm-up.
Take Care of the Ball
Near freezing temperatures will reduce the distance a golf ball will fly, but it takes about 8 - 10 hours of exposure for a ball's performance to be negatively affected. The night before you plan to play, keep your golf balls indoors, not in your car's trunk or the garage. This will help retain their usual pop throughout the next day's round.
