Eyes Over the Ball
All the top teachers tell you that having your eyes over the ball will help with the alignment of the putter in relationship to the path you want the ball to roll. Are your eyes over the ball?
Here is a very simple guide to help you find out, and you can even do this inside. Place a ball on the floor about three or four inches from the wall. Pretend you are going to putt the ball parallel to the wall. Take your normal stance.
Is your head touching the wall? If your head is touching the wall then your normal stance is probably OK.
If not, you probably don't have your eyes over the ball. Adjust your feet by moving closer to the wall and ball. When your head touches the wall notice how far your feet are away from the ball. Lay a club on the floor so it touches both toes, and then measure the distance from the shaft to the ball. This is the position you want to learn to get into a habit of when addressing the ball.
