Don't be a Jerk
Remember it is call a "golf swing"!If you begin your stroke with a quick jerky motion you are setting yourself up to make some mistakes. Once you make a mistake in your backstroke you will need to fix it before you strike the ball or you will not get the results you hoped for.
For example, if you start you putting stroke with a jerk or other quick motion you are probably going to force the putter head off-line and the putter face has a good chance of opening or closing away from the target line.
Again, our goal is to have a smooth fluid swing, back and forth, this will help to keep the putter head online and make a solid contact with the ball. If you can create a smooth back stroke and then transition into a smooth forward stroke you will be on your way to striking the ball online and with a consistent distance.
