Blowing in the Wind
How much do you get to play when the wind is blowing? Or how many days do you play when there is absolutely no wind? The wind can have some effect on your playing, but it shouldn't change the way you play too much.A solidly hit ball will not be effected that much by the wind. However if the wind gets more severe we need to focus more or solid contact and a slow smooth swing. Most of the time the urge might be to try to hit the ball harder causing less solid contact more ball spin and open the possiblity for getting into more trouble.
Hitting into the wind
If you are hitting into a strong head wind, try taking more club and swing with a slower smooth motion. The result should be a lower shot with less spin. Two things will happen, you will get pleny of distance due to the roll and the ball flight will not be effecting by the wind. Allow for more roll, keeping a thought to your target. For a shot of shorter distance, again take more club but now you can use the wind to help stop the ball on the green.
Hitting with the wind
For this shot you still want to swing with a smooth easy swing, but you can take less club. To take advantage of the wind on your drive you'll need to get the ball into the air with a high trajectory.Stopping the ball on the green is going to be more difficult when the wind is behind you, but you can take less club with a slightly faster swing. The quicker the swing, the more spin you place on the ball and this could restrict some of the roll once it hits the ground.
Side winds
Don't over compensate too much when playing a shot with the wind blowing side ways. Many golfers find trouble by thinking the ball is going to move more than it does by overcompensating. At the most allow for a ten yard movement. Remember, a low solidly hit ball will not be effected too much.
