50 Putts in a Row

Do you have problems with short putts? You can increase your confidence level by mastering the 50 Putts in a Row drill.

Find an area on the green where the ground is level in a six foot diameter circle. Place your practice target (hole) in the center of the circle. Put 5 balls down, 1 foot from the hole and sink them all. Keep sinking putts from this range until you have sunk 50 in a row. If you miss, start counting from the beginning.

After you have sunk 50 in a row move back a foot and try to sink 40 in a row.

Then from 3 feet, sink 30 in a row.

Then from 4 feet, sink 20 in a row.

Then from 5 feet, sink 10 in a row. If you have too much trouble with this, set a lower goal for the number of putts to be sunk from each distance. But what ever number you select, you must make it to that number before moving to the next distance. No excuses, almost isn't good enough.

Alway finish your practice with a positive attitude of sinking your putts. Do not end after you have missed a putt. If you have to go back to a shorter distance and sink the number of putts from that distance. Over time you will not be at all intimidated by putts of these lengths and your scores will drop as well.
