Having Proper Rain Gear May Be The Only Way To Shine

Rain gear seems to be an unnecessary evil for most of us because if it rains, we simply don't play. But for tournament and traveling golfers, investing in a good rain suit is one of the best decisions you can make.

The biggest changes in rainwear are the weight and the ability to breathe. Some of the earlist generations of Gore-Tex were heavy and bulky and wearing it on a summer day would break you out in a sweat inside the suit. Those days are gone and rain jackets and pants are much lighter and cooler.

The other big change has been the short-sleeve rain jacket or vest and many manufacturers making jackets that either have zip-off sleeves that either detach at the shoulder or elbow. Even some rain pants have a zip-off option that turns pants into shorts for the summertime wear.

The Industry leader in rain gear Zero Restriction, which has a heavy PGA tour presence and has an equipment van at each Tour event to service the needs of the players. The company estimates that 32 percent of the Tour players use Zero. The most popular item among Tour players in the Zero Restriction line is the Featherweight Collection, a lightweight suit taht the company says is completely waterproof and breathable. At a recent British Open, some players asked for the Whispersoft Tour Lite which is a warmer suit for colder conditions.
